2 Words that made a huge difference

Semantics and Semiotics (impact of words and symbols) turn me on... intellectually!  Here is a perfect and timely example of the power of words and symbols.

Gian Paul Gonzales was called on by the NY Giants team chapel leader to speak to the team just before Christmas, with critical games left to play in the season.  Gian is a NJ HS teacher and runs a ministry called 4-One, which uses sports as a means to connect with youth.

It was close to Christmas evening, Gian is a minister and his speech had references to christian history, Jesus and Mary... but the message was "areligious" universal and timeless and was delivered in these two simple sentences.
“Sometimes we’ve got to step up and be all in,” he told the group. “You have to be willing to say, ‘I’m going to be all in and risk everything and bet everything.’ ”

Then Gonzalez handed each player at the chapel a poker chip and had them initial one side and put their number or whatever was meaningful on the other side. In a symbol of unity they all pushed the chips into the center of a table.

One of the Giants players said, “It’s about being willing to do whatever is asked of you and even volunteering to do things that you normally wouldn’t do.”

What words and symbols inspire you?  Make them a part of your day.
